Which Hair Extensions to Buy

You may be tempted to get cheap synthetic hair extensions if this is your first time buying. Many of us have been there before, enticed by the price, but we end up buying twice! As in, you’ll soon find yourself looking for another hair extensions that actually blend. So let us save you the hassle - if you want natural-looking hair that’s easy on the eyes, invest in human, Remy hair.

You may be tempted to get cheap synthetic hair extensions if this is your first time buying. But if you want natural-looking hair that’s easy on the eyes, invest in Remy hair.

Since Remy hair is made from 100% human hair, you can expect long, voluminous hair that feels soft and silky to the touch. These extensions are also less prone to tangling and dryness. Unlike synthetic hair, you can create a wide array of styles with Remy extensions.

Wondering what kind of hair extensions to get? From a comfort standpoint, your best option is clip-in extensions. All you have to do is clip them in your hair and you’re done. You can easily take them out and set them aside after your special event is over.

But if you’re after a semi-permanent option, you can go for tape-in extensions, in which the wefts are taped into your hair by a professional stylist. The tape will last you for a couple of months, but it will also depend on how fast your short hair will grow. Once your hair has grown out, the extensions will need to be removed and reapplied.

Short Hair, Don’t Care

Turn that pixie into full-length hair with these steps. The first step is to make your natural hair sleek. This way, the short strands don’t stick out and will remain hidden once you put on the extensions. The result is a natural, seamless look.

The second step is to section your hair into parts. This will help you with the placement. Remember that everybody's hair is different and sectioning is subjective. You’ll have to play around with your hair to determine what works best for you.

From Very Short Hair to Long Hair Extensions: Before and After

The third step is to clip in the extensions. For best results, use the 16-inch, 9-piece hair extensions which complement short, blunt hair. You’ll need the extensions to sit higher on your head to cover as much of your natural hair as possible.

Start with the wide wefts first. Slide an open clip onto a section of your short hair and then snap it shut to keep the weft in place. Once you have applied the first couple of wefts, check for volume and length. If you’re still not satisfied, you can add more wefts until you’ve achieved the desired results. If you see short strands sticking out of the extensions, conceal them with single wefts.

You can also use two sets of hair extensions to mix and match colors. This will add dimension and depth to your short hair. Once all the wefts have been applied, tease the sections of hair above the extensions so that they conceal the clips well.

The fourth step is to style as you go. Wavy or curly hair is always in, so grab that curling wand and start curling. If you want to save time, you can choose to pre-curl the extensions before putting them in your hair.

Maintenance is Key

Nourishment for the hair comes from the scalp. Since hair extensions are not attached to a source of natural oil, they have the tendency to get dry and brittle. To make the most out of your hair extensions, they should be well-maintained and conditioned at all times.

Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner are chemical-free and will help maintain the quality of your extensions despite their frequent use. A deep conditioning mask is also recommended if you style your hair frequently.

Use a brush made specifically for hair extensions. Unlike normal hair brushes, extension brushes can untangle the hair without damaging it during the process. We would recommend our Zala Loop brush - specifically designed to care for your Zala hair extensions. One advantage of hair extensions is that you can style it just the way you would with natural hair. However, you should limit the use of heat styling tools and always use lower temperature settings. If it’s a special occasion and you want to use heat styling, spritz on heat protectant spray to protect your extensions.Have you transformed your look with extensions?
